thoughts of the moment and of my life

IS IT SEWING (OR SOWING OR SUEING MAYBE, SEWAGE)??

Took a giant step yesterday and tried (successfully) to repair my $99 sewing machine (or is it sowing or suing). More than a few years ago…I bought this sweetheart for something to do….and I did get busy, mostly making table throws (that is a small tablecloth), and other dumb stuff, to sell in my antique space. Well, it was fun, for awhile.

It suddenly began acting up (the machine) deciding sewing was not what it wanted to do…I think pissing me off was what it meant to do (am speaking softly now, cause it is in the next room). Well, I retired from sewing (sowing) until I saw some great ideas using imperfect linen and making new things to sell.

I calmly went back to the little guy and decided that I was going to ‘fix him’ in more ways than one. It seems, that in assembly, there was a weak spot in the plastic and that spot had turned in to a crack. Now that crack could have been anywhere but where it was, (right where the thread likes to lay when using the machine. So the machine, knowing it would make me mad, started breaking my thread by luring it into the little plastic crack. There went the machine, there went the tension (not mine), and there went sewing (sowing) and hence, the divorce….until yesterday.

The glue came out, the bright overheads came on, and the surgery began. With an ever sophisticated toothpick (wood, not plastic) the procedure continued for maybe 2 minutes. Upon completion it was properly propped, so the glue would glue and glue in the right place.

Today, after checking on the patient a couple of times, the surgery was deemed a success, I took a rag from the rag bag in the garage and proceed to sew (or sow or sue) my way down its sides. Three times without breaking, with proper tension and, especially no cussing.

It’s a good day!
