You are not going to believe this…..remember yesterday when I wrote about having your or my congress people contacting us at any time…..and the fact that I have not…….Guess who wrote me yesterday…..Yep Congressman Byron Reynolds reminding me he serves Florida’s 19th District…(like he writes me all the time) He was just catching up wanting to know if he was representing my priorities in Congress. What?

He made a list of priorities and asked me to pick the top one OR ‘something else’….. Some items included lower inflation

enhance national security

secure southern border

add disaster relief programs

On top of this surprise there was an article on my facebook page where people in his District had written to him (some up to 3 different times) requesting help. This is the district that was severely damaged by hurricane Ian over 15 months ago. No disaster relief funding was voted upon then because it was vacation time…and has yet to be voted on. Not one of these families had received any response to their letters. Surprise  I could not believe that all of this happened only a day after I wrote about how my representatives had and have no idea what we want, have, or need. 

Being a Democrat or Republican has no bearing on what we need regarding Ian and its destruction….We are not alone in continuing to cope with these hurricanes and tornadoes that have happened in the last few years….clear back to Katrina. If books have not been closed on Katrina, imagine how long it will take Mexico Beach, Florida or Mayfield, Kentucky, or flooded towns in Colorado to become self sustaining communities again.

I am not asking that my district be put on the top of the list in needs….I am only giving this as an example of what has become evident to me in the last 2 days.  The list he gave us is what he should be working on each and every day. Those are a given….The pettiness of what Congress spends their time on is bad….Sure there are lots of things that need to be examined…but most of them rank under ‘ petty’ compared to making my country safe….and in my district’s case, helping people get back in to their homes after 15 months of non movement or plans.

If Byron has to contact me to ask for advice on the list he sent, Byron needs to get another job.If Byron needs to spend his days being in committees whose results will end up going nowhere he is not representing me properly. Please..we need safety, we need Congress to show up 5 days a week and fill the empty seats we see on TV. 

Regardless of your choice when voting at the polls, people across these states are experiencing the same problem….lack of important and problem solving representation.

Write your congressman or better yet, tell your local newspaper what and how your representative has worked for you….
