Perhaps you have heard of me and my nation-wide campaign against the evils of alcohol, gambling, and fornication. Recently, I have made a series of lectures on the evils of these corruptibles. On this tour, I have been accompanied by my old friend and assistant, Mr. Clyde Lindstone. Clyde, a mature man of a good family and excellent background (Purdue graduate), is a classic example of life ruined by excessive indulgence of whiskey and sex.

Clyde would appear with me at the lecture and sit on the platform wheezing and staring at the audience through bleary, blood shot eyes, sweating profusely, picking his nose, passing gas, making obscene gestures, while I would point him out as the example of what over-indulgence can do to a person.

Last fall, unfortunately, poor Clyde died. A mutual friend has given me your name, and I wonder if you would be available to take Clyde’s place on my 2022 fall tour. If not, perhaps you know of someone like yourself who would be interested.

Was printing some copies this afternoon to use later on in the year….As usual the copier fairy moved the originals around right before the copying began. At first I could get two on a page but gave up trying to make 3 perfect ones…….Instead, I retrieved my scissors to make things right. Suddenly I was 8 or 10 or 12 and cutting out stuff…..had to be along the line, depending on which side of the scissors were meant to follow it.

Each and every one had to be done properly because they were going to be presented to adults throughout the year, when necessary. “Take your time”, I thought, don’t cut the black line inside on one and outside on the other. Don’t make the cut upward or downward at the end where there is no line…..do it right…..I loved it….no tension…I’m 78

Kind of reminds me how nice it is to color again….I have my own 3 coloring books and they are not for sissys. No big fat lined pictures of flowers or doggies with floppy ears….No way, these are dozens of flowers, with animals full of design, and geometric frames all around. These are the kind of pictures you use the dot of your gel pen to fill in the space. These are the kind where you need to study the picture first so you can see the how equal both sides must be…If the leaf is green something on the right side, it must be the same green on the left.

These pictures are for rainy days or zero days with TCM or Hallmark on…no hurry, at least 2-3 hours to get half done. Gel pens must be arranged in colors just one step above or below the next. Plenty of time to use gold and silver……after you decide what part of the drawing must be filled in and what part just outlined…for the proper look.

Ah yes it was fun…..paper, scissors, and crayons and a few hours to go back in time and be a little ‘type a’ girl…… later

Please know these writings will not be political all the time, but after reading this morning’s Wall Street Journal, just had to stick this in……remember the writing about committees talking and talking……etc.?

Wall Street Journal, Page A13….Potomac Watch……quoting a paragraph, not quarreling about the discussion topic………”Committee members have so far met with some 300 witnesses, received thousands of documents, and subpoenaed some 50 individuals, as well as phone and bank records…….THE COMMITTEE’S LEAKS, AND RELEASES OF WHITE HOUSE TEXT MESSAGES HAVE PROVIDED COLOR, WHILE ITS LITIGATION AND CONTEMPT CITATIONS HAVE KEPT THE PRESS IN GRAVY……Surprise! It’s about Jan 6.

and so it goes…..

I tuned in to the last 5 minutes of the committee hearings this morning….It only took 5 minutes (the same) to see Washington pretty boys, as usual. No one seemed interested in finding answers as much as they did listening to to themselves. One and on they went about background info nobody cared about….including the 4 at the table in front of them.

When the committee received a ‘no’ it meant absolutely nothing….they continued to dispute and disregarded answers were just and proper. Like kids acting out at home, the committee should have been asked “what part of ‘no’ don’t you understand.

If the answers were not ‘good enough’, the conversation game changed to another attack topic, making nincompoops of members.

I’ve always wanted to put every senator’s name in a hat and pull out one each month, one democrat and one republican . They were now entitled to be the spokesperson for the rest, concerning anything they wanted to talk about. What an absolute relief that possibly we could hear something that took thought instead of ‘suit’ words….you know…the ones that make your eyes roll back into their heads…. But I digress

Some people know how to keep quiet…committees don’t like that.,.,, what a vision of entitlement. Some people love to ‘leak’; committees live for that.

Some day, when the house and senate dare to visit their states for a period of time long enough to get an ‘earful’ of what Americans really think, Washington DC will cease to live in their ‘clouds of perfection’.

And does anyone know how that may occur……either the American voter will rid themselves of poor representation or ….nope guess that is the’ only one way’……later

Sleeping til 9…hubby and kitty both purring…Opening the blinds to an ocean blue sky with cotton clouds…Ten cups and 3 coffee measures offer up a delightful aroma to begin the day. Outside the news waits patiently…some good, some not.

And life is good

Clothes peek out of the hamper, waiting for a wash..Plants lean toward the sun and wait for their faucet drink…Kitty paws me for his morning treat and then heads to the front porch. Soaking beans soften up to a ham hock for tonight’s supper

And life is good

A woodpecker looks for his meal in the Florida oak. Squirrels scamper thru palm and frond, falling in love one moment and digging up acorns the next. Herons and gulls correspond as the sun rises further…looking for baitfish to fatten their bellies.

And life is good

Neighbors await their grandchildren, coming from the frozen north…wagons, sand pails, and cribs come out of storage, as the family comes together. Snowbirds come and go, feeling lucky they re here to bask in the sun where coconut palms flourish…

And life is good

Blessings are acknowledged and health is never taken for granted…Our 70 years have come so quickly, we sometimes lose count, until we look into the mirror. Friendships are stronger, deeper, and longer than ever imagined,. A 50th high school reunion puzzles us this very day….

And life is good

We carry on with our day, and smile that we no longer rise to be in the office at 7…..Our kind, retirees, sift thru life’s memories and rejoice that children are grown and have jobs. Their paths beginning to march to the chorus of promises and dreams, sometimes stumbling as they find their way….

And one morning, sooner than they realize, they will find themselves waking at 9, hubby and kitty purring, and the news of the day waiting….right outside.

I have kept some of my writings for another day…..some as far back as 2005. Like 17 years, give or take. As most of my friends know….cause they are in the same boat, I’m in my late 70’s and maybe going thru these posts will bring back some interesting moments. I’ll begin sharing them with you….I can already see some are tough to read and some are mile-stones of happiness and achievement.

I type for me….sometimes to get it out and sometimes to get it out of my head and heart.

Some are from others some are mine…..all have personal moments. later…

brand new day and year….good job on forgiving…..and saying sorry…..and if you just could not bring yourself to do the deed, good job on thinking and planning to complete your sorry list in 2022.

Take care of yourselves…love one another…..and if you absolutely cannot bring yourself to forgive …allow those to be here on earth…..yes, that is a beginning…..

hope you are chipping away at your list of making amends …..some are long and others are few….yippee on both cause it means you recognize them……I am so proud of you…..seeking out amends and standing taller and taller each time. It is truly a wonderful Christmas gift not only for you but for each and everyone you touch with your kindness……you are wonderful……

Write when you get done and tell me how it went…..Surprise! it might take more than one ‘fix it’ conversation…..guess you didn’t realize how badly you had screwed did you? C’mon…get go’in…

I don’t write as much as I used to…..this coming year will be different…got lots rolling around in my head.

I sometimes get people who read my blog from China more than any other country. I often wonder why they choose to read me and how they find me…..but for today….we talk about lessening pain in this world that could be heaven…if we only tried

Morals and ethics and truthfulness should be traits everyone puts on the top of their “I be this way first” list. So today……begin to be a better person

Dear old and young……

It is time to ‘fix’ your ‘mistakes’ for the year….The ‘wrongs’, either done on purpose or in error, need to disappear. And, if you ‘did’em’, you need to ‘fix’em’….and do it today. Too embarrassed? Feel too guilty to make the call or write the letter? To proud to make ‘the call’? Shame……Look at all the time you’ve wasted this year by puffing up rightousness to your friends, family, or total strangers.

Were you the one that ‘bullied’ at school? Did you lose your temper with your neighbor over absolutely nothing? Did you yell at your family just because YOU were irritated over something that had nothing to do with them? Did you short change or not leave a tip just to ‘control’ the situation? Did you cut someone off driving and then blame them? Did you make employees feel ‘small’ cause you ‘just felt like it’? Did you hurt with a ‘snicker’ or ‘rolling of the eyes’ when didn’t were near someone who didn’t look or act like you? Did you ‘ignore’ people less fortunate than you, just because? Is it still necessary for you to ‘call out skin color’ or ‘church association’ something really meaningless, just because you have to comment on it?

Well peoples everywhere….today is the day…..a card, a phone call, an email, a short letter, a face to face, a quick or long discussion….. start today. It may be the hardest thing you have ever done, or close to it…I don’t care! LATER
