The last couple of posts had to do with my representative, Byron, contacting me…….and then ….nothing. I see that he and another representatives have been working on possibly getting a bill passed to make it a little easier to purchase long guns…has been written and entered but nothing more…..at least I hope not…..
Where is Byron, my bud, and where is yours? Am I the only one who is forgotten…..99,9% of the time and then, when contacted, sent the most ridiculous questions imagined……Does your government contact you in any way even once or twice a year?
For all they know I am dead….or following another party….or living in Brazil…..I don’t know how to get their attention, except to not vote for them. I don’t honestly think that will make any difference cause they will move on to a lawyer’s office somewhere and I will get another dud who doesn’t contact me, and so on, and so on.
I bet if someone called you today and asked you to come to Washington…or the state capitol and work on solving the problem of your choice….you’d be packing and out the door in less than 24 hours….You would contact people all around your area, regardless of politics and ask them for suggestions on how to solve your ONE LITTLE PROBLEM you’ve been given to work on…..You would talk to housewives, blue and white collar, business owners in your town and in a larger one close by, police officers, the mayor and city council, and even another politician or so, even those from another party…..
Yep, you’d be out there and also you would be proud to represent and work for all the above…..What has happened….where did we go wrong voting for who we voted for? Or….at what point in his/her political life did they become brain dead and go for the me, me, me choice in handling our lives.
And, to top it all off, who do you call, write, or see in person, to help alleviate or just START to make a change for a person of positive influence? Party people (that’s political) LOL (come to think of it maybe the ‘party people’ might not be such a bad idea…..anyhow…..Your county, state, or the federal government “uncle sam” himself….again whoever that is…
I think this is like the situation I was in with a variable interest account when first married…..The government told/explained that the rates could COULD go up in increments of like a half point and it could also go down……Guess what, it went up but never went down when everything else was going down. I was young and maybe stupid but I started calling my bank at the lowest level and the loan people and then the state and then the big BIG BIG in San Francisco who supposedly held all the cards.
Guess what i got from each and all…..NOTHING, NADA, NO, DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, and on and on. I bet today if you wanted to find out how a variable interest loan works and at one point does it go down…..you would get NOTHING, NADA, NO, AND WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT…….anyhow
So send ideas….names, telephone numbers with real people answering, who have an answer to how we get things going down the right road to a better democracy…..If you choose to handle it yourself, please, please, do and drop me a line so I can pass it on…..
Meanwhile, I hope my representatives are embarrassed. They have done nothing for me plenty to me.. They have a petty cash drawer….send me (us) how and why you voted …..especially the ‘why’ Am not interested in a yea or nay…..in the meantime, I’ll watch the fuel and prices rise, the long gun idea, the immigrants staying in 5 start hotels, and getting top of the line medical when my neighbors can’t, and how FEMA can change their rules and make them retro active…..

Been trying not to comment on Planned Parenthood, but I have to. At least I’ll start out and see what happens.
I have sensed for a long time the ‘agenda’ of who ever wants to stir the pot of problematic indecision. I guess I can only discuss it from my point in living these past 70 plus years.
My most bitter disappointment is having to face the fact that religion comes in many forms and is used as a sledgehammer to address situations some people don’t care for, to enhance their agenda. I see some of you wincing, some exclaiming how wrong I am, and others shrugging.
There are lots of things in life aimed at making people wince, scream, and walk away. If it happens next door, you are ready to stand and push the morality you live by. If it happens in Egypt, Germany, England, Syria, or Iraq, we think ‘oh no, when will it ever end’….and then go on living our day. ‘Well, it’s kind of numbing after awhile’, you say…..and you are right.
When a politician becomes a part of criminal activity, we gasp, knowing that we expected more….and sure enough, got less. And we go on….
When there is an auto accident that claims lives in another state, we think ‘what a shame’ and we go on….
When a couple become parents to a newborn who lives only a few hours because of birth defects, it does touch us…for awhile, and we go on.
WHY?……….
Me thinks it is because we really don’t have the answer and therefore can’t handle the problem thinking through our own personal moral and character beliefs and ADMITTING we don’t have the answer.
Playing God is always a good way out….think how many times a day we rate others actions and reactions. Think how we smirk at their dress or their language. Think how we roll our eyes when their opinions don’t quite match ours. And then there is religion…..we really don’t like to get involved with that, do we. We and they…..We think, they think, we believe, they believe.. We forgive this way, they forgive that way. We think this law is okay, they think that law is okay. We think they tread on us, and visa versa.
Now we don’t really play god with the big stuff…..mostly it is small time, cause we are educated enough in our every day living to make those decisions. Oh, please, you know that is wrong…..we are God all the time, otherwise confession and prayer would not be so important. We know we screw up….but there are small ones and big ones….right!
LET’S LOOK AT ME…..
I’m here to say I’ve had a pretty wonderful life, compared to most people. And yet, there have been some bad times. I’ve often said that some people could not have handled some of the things that happened to me…..and visa versa. I know of some pretty bad things that others have incurred, and they have survived, continuing to become wonderful human beings, with souls of gold. But let’s use me…… and I’ll go right to the core of this post…..I aborted at home at almost 6 months, and prior to that had 4 miscarriages. A year later we adopted a wonderful little boy thru state where we lived. We had him until he was twenty and because of his fetal alcohol syndrome, he felt his life would be better if he went out on his own and cut all communications with his family, and friend. We did not know he had this syndrome and neither did he.
AND OTHERS…….
I know of a wonderful gal who had 5 children and 5 abortions….why? Was it because of money, anger, molestation, fear, her health, the fetus’ health…..who knows. Maybe all of them……it is not for me to judge. Her shoes weren’t mine and mine were not hers. We all know of girls who ‘went away’ when were in high school in the 50’s and 60’s. Their shoes weren’t mine and mine were not theirs. Lives so young, so full of trauma. Decisions had to be made….and they were.
Many wonderful souls have died because of disease, time, starvation, and lifestyle.
Other pregnant women in countries whose names we cannot pronounce, or sadly even remember, lose their babies to lack of good nutrition, or good drinking water, a warm place to sleep, and most often, poor sanitary conditions when giving birth.
COMMON CAUSES…STILL PROBLEMATIC
Many families have children with diseases that should some day be eliminated.
Stem cell research shall become a ‘giver of new life’ for children of birth defects that have stalked generations.
Good nutrition, water, and being in a safe place should be put into operation at once, for everyone.
Molestation, lack of money, anger, and no family support….should be a thing of the past..
But alas, after all these years, they still remain.
TO ACT.. IS TO REACT… AND NOT OVER-REACT….
Traumatic ‘you tube’ film shows in households all over the world. Ugliness is always around….but how we handle it proves our character and worth.
Would I have a tough time watching an amputation…..you bet. Would I have a tough time watching war and the horrendous pain inflicted on men and women….couldn’t do it. Would one wince while pulling critically injured people from auto wreckage….of course. Would it be easy for me watch the caring of severe burns…couldn’t do it. BUT PEOPLE DO…..BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO….to help, aid and assist the strangers they come to care for.
And so it is with research…..and religion…..They need to cross and match. The realization that human beings are helpful and helpless has to be discussed. We cannot hide our beliefs any longer. We need to take them out and look closely at why we believe what.
Planned Parenthood should be a place to learn and discuss openly optional birth control methods. We can continue to scare one another into not getting pregnant. How well has that worked…..?
Most of all Planned Parenthood should be planned for and around adoptive parents to receive babies that because of personal reasons, the mother chose to do so. I say personal reasons, because I know there are many….and ‘walking in shoes’ is not for discussion here.
Having adopted, and watching the process with others today, it has become much more of a business than ’tissue’ donations ever were. Who is to say who will be a good or bad parent…..and how do those rules apply to ‘anyone’ who becomes pregnant…there isn’t any is there…except and until the child is hurt or found not to be cared for, or starved, etc. I remember seeing scrapbooks potential families had to design to show their home and back yard and family and how the room would be furnished, and all the outdoor swings, etc. WHAAAAT!
Are you getting the picture now about what is moral to who….The laws governing parenthood are kind of not working, right. ‘Don’t tread on me’… it is my right to get pregnant….and the laws say yes. How we work thru this ….should be a part of planned parenthood.
SO ….WHAT DO WE DO….
We change our attitude on who can be a parent and why. We modify our reasons when it becomes a moral disaster to get pregnant within today ‘s lifestyle. We encourage good healthcare, before pregnancy, and birth control to avoid another moral disaster, finally admitting that we can’t make everyone into the same mold, that is to act, look, live, and believe like us.
We gently understand the loss of children, and further research the reasons for birth defects, in order to negate those defects. We do not sensationalize pain, sadness, loss, and death when it comes to abortions or miscarriages….but instead encourage families of unwanted pregnancies to pass on their ‘gift’ to a family unable to have children.
We make adoption available, and don’t charge 2o% minimum of your yearly gross earnings…..We charge for prenatal care and having the baby, period.
We understand that some people do not want or need children…..and teach them that it is okay. Birth control is a gift to people who don’t want children, just as the opposite is of families who do, can’t, and want to adopt.
And maybe we take a second look at research of human tissue of all kinds, knowing that we already donate cadavers, eyes, lungs, brains, virtually everything we have to find the answer… Everything that God has made helps us understand everything that God has made, better, especially when we do it with kindness, understanding, and tenderness to others just like us.
I read two papers this AM with 3 cups of coffee…..let me say it again, I READ TWO NEWSPAPERS this morning with 3 cups of coffee. My kids tell me I’m really ‘out of mainline journalism’…..I’m in ‘mail-line journalism…and that is further out. I’m sad if it is the truth….that the days of newspapers are fading. Yes, the word ‘sad’ is appropriate.
The better part of my 68 years I’ve shared with a newspaper…..When I was learning to read….the newspaper was always in my home. Mother and Dad read, and then I read. Sure, at the age of 10 I wasn’t all that interested in the front page, but there were always the ‘funnies’. Kind of like learning to iron…..first you start with the hankies and then you move onward to more difficult pieces of clothing. That’s how the newspaper and I made friends.
Then, in high school, sometimes things in my small brain began to gel….I would read something in the paper and low and behold…we’d talk about it in government or history. Dang!
And now, after all these years, I’m more of an avid reader than ever. I learn every day…whether it is a joke, a piece of history, a sale, a divorce, a birth, a death, and on and on. LIFE is the newspaper and the newspaper is life. It tells me the weather, the high school basketball scores, the time of the July 4th parade, the mass at church, the sale at the local dress shop, the fishing report for the local lake, and the local police beat…often and thank goodness, more humorous than scary.
I would be foolish to say the Internet has not proved to be another great spot for the news….I know we can hear it all on local TV stations as well as CNN and FOX, but that’s not the news I long for….We all live in little areas..they may be inside large cities or on farms, distant from neighbors, however, we all desire to be close to one another….The local newspaper, whether it is weekly, bi weekly, in the morning or in the evening, binds our hearts, our lives, our dreams, and it extends the hand of friendship to all.
When traveling thru Tennessee, I read about the lives of folks in Nashville, Knoxville, and all the little towns in between. I look at their housing, their taxes, as well as their squabbles with local, county and state government. It truly does my heart good to see that we are pretty much the same, regardless of our proximity to one another. Soccer might be hot in So. California, but football is the game in Louisiana. High school football barely makes it in some western states, however, in Indiana, and the Ohio Valley, the homes are empty on Fri. night cause they are at the game. In the assisted care facilities…..everyone is in their room…..not cause they feel bad….but in season….it is basketball and football that keeps the lights on late into the night.
And last but not least…I love the ads…Where am I going to find so easily…..the for rent and for sale section, the used car section, the misc. for sale section, the legal announcement section, the inside ads for carpet, granite, hot dogs. 2 for 1, picking fresh blueberries, and the editorial section, including all the letters to the editor. So much entertainment, so much knowledge, so much life…..and all available in the paper.
So go ahead, read the Internet, learn that Tiger won his 74th, that the Supreme Court did or did not make the right decision, and the high in Las Vegas will be 104…..but for me, I’ll use it as backup only…..cause it is the paper…..I truly love.

In the paper today, there is a quote from Margaret Thatcher…..”One of the great problems of our age is that we’re governed by people who care more about feelings than they do about thoughts and ideas”…..
I will add that it seems we are also veering from our values due to the sensitivity of our friends, kids, jobs, churches, and our own cravings. Hey! There is nothing wrong with saying “no”. There is nothing wrong with saying, “this is not right”. There is nothing wrong with saying “yes, we can get away with it, but no, it’s not right”. There is nothing wrong with saying “YOU ARE WRONG” when your values, morals, and ethics scream inside your brain.
When did we start going down this path? Did our little kiddies pull the wool over our eyes when we were vulnerable? Shame on us…Did our friends manipulate us into believing they would walk if we didn’t go along with the opinions and even their actions?
Now go look in the mirror……..Did you fall for it? If so…..shame on you!
Keep looking in that mirror and make a plan to make a change….starting now, not after you go to the game and yell obscenities, not after finance committee meeting concerning balancing the budget, not after you snicker at the less fortunate, not after you cheat on your taxes, but NOW!
ATTENTION…….morals, values, and ethics have not been modified to fit our lifestyle….I don’t care what the kids say……
BOTTOM LINE…….make the change…..be at the head of the line…..stand tall…
WSJ is the ‘local paper’ for world business. Its inside scoop opens up eyes and investigations to business world-wide. It offers up, however, some strange pieces of information in the Legal Notices section…..and if one begins to read this section, just once in a while, it becomes a riveting piece of news, not just a notice.
It begins by saying “The US Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI) Washington,D.C gives notice that the following properties were seized for various federal forfeiture violations, which are mentioned below.
It goes on, saying “You may contest the seizure in US District Court by filing a claim of ownership, no later than 30 days after the date of the final publication of the notice of seizure, etc. etc……
The notice further states explanations of the items discussed, such as CSA = The Controlled Substances Act, Title 21 U.S.C, Section 881 or MLC = Money Laundering Control Act of 1986, Title 18, U.S.C. Section 981(a)(1)(A), and so on. These definitions alone are alarming, however , the listings by state are beyond words, when it comes to us the ” nice guys”.
Examples are not exact….numbers are mixed up and cases are changed around, however, it is the content that brings me to today’s writing.

Maybe it is time to read the Legal Notices again……in the WSJ. Maybe it is time we thank the FBI, the DEA, ICE, Border Patrol, and Coast Guard as they keep watch 24/7 over our neighborhoods, communities, & states;our land, and its borders. Maybe it’s time we see that these men and women have the equipment,the money, and the backing to do their job, instead of having their hands tied by politicians who can’t find their way out of a paper bag unless a TV reporter is around.

has anyone ever seen an ad so bad……I don’t know which is the worst….him for even thinking of marrying her, or the wife, who is a first class man hurter (as she stands triming her begonias, or whatever). Let’s face it, he probably made the money for her to have the beautiful environment to grow her flowers. AT&T should be ashamed of themselves and remove the ad ASAP. I thought I was the only one who was insulted until 3 of my friends mentioned it when they saw it on TV.
While you are taking your customer’s money and charging them ‘extra charges’ just because you can……please allow them the simple pleasure of at least a chuckle now and then. Better yet, give them good service…
some walk the hallways, some stare at blank screens or beat-up typewriters, some wake up at 2am with a wonderful blog, and then there is me. I have ideas all the time…every waking moment. I can’t bring myself to sit in front of the screen 8 hours a day, but if I did, the words would just keep tumbling out. There is no grading as to whether the features will get an A or an F in the world of reading, but I really don’t care.
Just waking up in the morning starts the wheels turning….there is the local paper and the WSJ, not to mention the l0cal and national news. There are things that happen just outside the window that bring ideas of friendship, warmth, and smiles. I think the fun of writing is to look at a piece of information, a comment, a statement, an occurrence, and then put your twist on it…..It may be your opinion of how something happened or who made it happen. It might be a movie most rave about that I can’t stand. It may be a child acting out or acting up, or making their famous statements about life.
Ideas and writing create newer ideas and newer writings. News turns into history the moment it occurs, but it might change us forever. Words create pictures in the mind, accompanied by assorted emotions. Our writings bring us to tears, and helps us reach heights we never knew possible.
So when you are just sitt’in….think’in, you are still do’in. later
